David Goracy - Partner Managing Director

David Goracy is a Partner Managing Director of Ramius and Head of Marketing and Client Services.

Prior to joining Ramius in May 2000, Mr. Goracy spent over four years with Emerging Markets Partnership (EMP) in Washington, D.C. As a Managing Director of Marketing and Client Services, he was responsible for business development, client communications and portfolio analysis. With $4.7 billion in assets, EMP was the largest manager of private equity capital devoted to infrastructure investment in developing countries.

In 1989, Mr. Goracy was a co-founder, Managing Director and Principal at SGI Asset Management Inc., which specialized in low-volatility currency, fixed income and hedged strategies. He participated as a principal in the management buy out of the firm’s outside interests and its subsequent sale to Republic National Bank of New York. As a Managing Director of Republic Asset Management Corporation (RAM) from 1992-1995, he oversaw the firm’s global marketing and client service business. RAM offered multiple asset class products with a low-volatility bias to both institutions and private investors.

From 1987-1989, Mr. Goracy served as Managing Director and Principal at Laidlaw Adams & Peck, Inc. and its successor firms, where he was responsible for retail and institutional sales, trading and research. In 1981, Mr. Goracy became a founding member of the institutional equity division of Lazard Freres & Co. and remained at the firm until 1987.

From 1978-1981, Mr. Goracy was a member of the institutional equity sales and trading division at Morgan Stanley & Co.

Mr. Goracy received a B.A. from Georgetown University in 1971, a J.D. from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University in 1975 and an M.B.A. in Finance from Harvard University in 1978.
